New Delhi: An estimated 4 crore of eligible beneficiaries have not taken even a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of July 18, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.

A total of 1,78, 38, 52,566 vaccine doses (97.34%) were administered free of charge at government Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs) through July 18, she said in a response. written.

“As of July 18, about 4 crore of eligible beneficiaries have not even taken a single dose of the Covid vaccine,” she said in response to a question about the number and percentage of people who have not even taken it. took a single dose.

The precautionary doses were available free of charge to healthcare workers (TS), frontline workers (FLW) and all beneficiaries over the age of 60, from March 16 this year in government CVCs and for the age group 18-59 from April 10 in private CVCs. . A special 75-day campaign to administer precautionary doses to all people aged 18 and over at government vaccination centers began on July 15.

The ‘COVID vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ campaign aimed at boosting the uptake of Covid precautionary doses among the eligible population, is taking place as part of the government’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the independence of the India.

According to Health Ministry officials, 98% of India’s adult population have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 90% have been fully vaccinated.
