CIPC Adopts Sexual Harassment as a Form of Corruption and Grants Provincial Registration to HEIR Women NACC | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Independent Commission on Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses (ICPC) has adopted sexual harassment as a form of corruption.

Therefore, the anti-corruption body yesterday delivered a letter of provincial registration as a member of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC) to the women-focused organization, Heir Women Hub.

Handing over the registration to the Head of Communications, HEIR Women Hub, Blessing Sani, at their office in Abuja, the CIPC representative said the recognition is imperative as part of efforts to combat and eradicate sexual harassment against young people women in the workplace, which has become very endemic. .

The Personal Assistant to the Director General of CIPC, Ms. Bunmi Olugasa and the Project Officer on Sexual Harassment in Educational Institutions of Secondary and Tertiary Institutions, who replaced the DG of CIPC, handed over the letter to the HEIR team WomenHub.

Executive Director, HEIR Women Development, Añuli Aniebo Ola-Olaniyi, thanked ICPC for sending a representative to the Career Barriers Workshop held in April, adding that her presence was part of the reason for advocacy visit to ICPC.

Recalling that the anti-corruption body considers sexual harassment as a form of corruption punishable by law in the same way as other corrupt practices; she called on the ICPC to begin ratifying, educating and prosecuting those who sexually harass young women in the workplace.

Olugasa appreciated the women’s group for their efforts in this regard and also spoke about the gap in cases related to sexual harassment.
