COVID-19: More than 55% of beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group fully vaccinated
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that more than 55 percent of young people aged 15 to 18 are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. No less than 5,79,70,064 young people received the first dose of COVDI-19 while 4,07,45,861 received the two doses of vaccine.
“Yet another great achievement from Young India! More than 55% of young people aged 15-18 are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Continue to follow proper COVID behavior even after being vaccinated,” Mandaviya said in a tweet. Notably, the vaccination campaign for people aged 15 to 18 started on January 3 this year.
With the administration of 17,23,733 vaccine doses in the past 24 hours, India’s vaccination coverage against COVID-19 has surpassed 186.90 crore (1,86,90,56,607) according to interim reports till at 7 a.m. today. COVID-19 vaccination for the 12-14 age group started on March 16, 2022.
So far, more than 2.50 Cr (2,50,83,940) adolescents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the administration of the COVID-19 precautionary dose for the 18-59 age group also started from April 10, 2022 and 2,11,000 precautionary doses have been administered so far.
