Dr. Jitendra Singh interacts with Bhavishya recipients
Union Minister of State (independent office) Science and Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today informed that the Department of Pensions and Retired Welfare will soon launch Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Single Common Portal of pensions for retirees and the elderly. This will also contribute to smooth processing, monitoring and payment of pensions.
Interacting with beneficiaries of Bhavishya, a portal for pension payment and tracking system, Dr Jitendra Singh said that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motto “Ease of Life” for all, the portal supported by the ‘IA will send automatic alerts to retirees and retired seniors. . He said that the portal will not only allow constant contact with retirees and their associations across the country, but will also regularly receive their contributions, suggestions as well as their grievances for a quick response.
Most retired seniors including paramilitary services and those about to become retirees praised the fast processing of pensions through the Bhavishya platform and thanked the Union minister for such transparent seva. Some of the issues on the banking side have been brought to the minister’s attention, which he said would be taken care of automatically in the AI-enabled portal with a fixed responsibility.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said Bhavishya has ensured end-to-end digitization of pension processing and payment in line with the Modi government’s goal of transparency, digitization and service delivery. He also advised leaders to hold pre-retirement workshops at regular intervals to advise them and learn from their experiences. The minister reiterated that pension reforms are not just governance reforms, but have huge positive social implications.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also commended the Department of Pensions and Retired Welfare for ranking 3rd for BHAVIHYA according to the recently released National E-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021, among all service delivery portals. central government e-governance services. He informed that the ranking is based on accessibility, content availability, ease of use, security and privacy of information, end service delivery, integrated service delivery, status and tracking of requests. The minister said that being a small ministry, this is really a big step since it was done entirely in-house using NIC’s services and without spending huge sums on outsourcing.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that “Bhavishya” platform has been made mandatory for all central government departments since 01.01.2017 and currently this system is successfully implemented in the main secretariat of 97 ministries/departments , including 815 attached offices, as well as 7,852 DDOs on board. . He also informed that to date, more than 1,62,000 cases have been processed, i.e. PPOs issued, including more than 96,000 e-PPOs.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said: Bhavishya 8.0 was released in August 2020 with this new feature to PUSH the ePPO in Digilocker. Bhavishya’ is the first application to use Digilocker Id based PUSH technology and 3892 e-PPOs have been pushed to Digilocker till date. Bhavishya offers retiring employees the option to link their Digilocker account to “Bhavishya” to get e-PPO. This initiative has created a permanent record safe from the destruction of retirees. He said the “Bhavishya” system is now available on a mobile app, which makes it easier, especially for para-military forces who are on the ground, to keep track of their pension records.
Secretary of the Pensions and Retirees Welfare Department, Shri V. Srinivas, said the PPO in Digilocker eliminates delays in transmitting the PPO to new retirees, as well as the need to hand in a physical copy. Considering that a very large number of retirees come from CAPFs who serve in remote parts of the country, such software is a boon both in terms of ease of processing and speed and accuracy in processing pensions.
From the pensioner filing their papers online to issuing the PPO in electronic format going into the Digilocker, this platform has shown the government’s intention for total transparency and efficiency. Each stakeholder has a deadline to complete their part of the retirement process and the alerts continue on the retirees’ mobile. As in the past, this saves the retiree the need to continue their case from seat to seat months before retirement. Since the software is powered with the latest pension rules, the pension calculation is accurate and rule compliant and not based on the interpretation of the processing staff.
