Real estate heir Robert Durst has been charged in New York state with the murder of his wife in 1982, The New York Times reported Friday, a week after he was sentenced in California to life in prison for the murder of his wife. best friend in 2000.

New York State Police Investigator Joseph Becerra filed a criminal complaint Tuesday in Lewisboro, New York, charging Durst, 78, with the second degree murder of Kathie McCormack Durst, who disappeared on 31 January 1982, The Times reported.

Becerra’s complaint said the charge against Durst is based on details in the files of the Westchester District Attorney, the New York State Police and the Los Angeles District Attorney, as well as ” conversations with numerous witnesses and submissions of defendants, recorded interviews and submissions of Mr. Durst’s recorded interviews and his testimony in court in related proceedings.”

On October 14, a California judge sentenced Durst to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his best friend, Susan Berman, in 2000.

Durst has COVID-19 and was on a ventilator, the Los Angeles Times reported last week.
