Saudi Citizens Account program allocates $960m to 10.9m beneficiaries for August

RIYADH – The Citizens Account Scheme has deposited SR3.6 billion as allowance for support allowance to around 10.9 million beneficiaries during the month of August.

The 57th installment of the support program will be disbursed among beneficiaries who have completed their application procedures and met the eligibility criteria. This brings the total amounts that have so far been disbursed by the scheme to beneficiaries since its inception to over SR 127 billion, including SR 1.133 billion in compensation for earlier payments.

Abdullah Al-Hajri, general manager of communications for the Citizen Account Program, said 76% of recipients received support from this tranche, and the average support for a family was SR1974 while the number heads of household reached more than 2.1. million constituting 90 percent. The number of dependents reached 8.5 million beneficiaries, while the number of self-employed persons fulfilling the eligibility criteria reached more than 233,000 beneficiaries, constituting 10% of the total main beneficiaries.

Al-Hajri pointed out that the percentage of household heads reached 90, while the percentage of female household heads was 10. The percentage of self-employed women was 42% while self-employed men constituted 58%. About 91 percent of the total independents received the full entitlement, which amounted to SR1086 per independent individual.

Al-Hajri revealed that the program was monitoring a number of recipients, who managed to obtain support allowance illegally, after concealing basic information without disclosing their actual income. These people have violated the program rules and the declarations approved during registration.

A number of these beneficiaries own real estate and have financial returns. They have documented contracts on the Ejar platform, and these earnings were not disclosed when they signed up for the Citizen Account program. Six of the program’s recipients have received stipend support for more than two years, and each of them owns more than 79 properties from which they receive annual financial returns through documented leases that they have not disclosed. . As a result, the program stopped paying them the support allowance and started treating them according to the program regulations.

He said the program periodically updates and reviews beneficiary data with relevant authorities to ensure it is consistent with what the beneficiary has disclosed on the e-portal to ensure aid is not provided only to eligible families.

Al-Hajri noted that the program will apply Article 20 of the law against anyone who deceives with the aim of obtaining support allowance without any rights. According to the article, the support allocation will be suspended for any principal beneficiary who provides misleading information, documents or material data, or conceals material information that must be disclosed in any way to obtain support. He will be deprived of obtaining the grant for a period not exceeding two years, or of claiming the grant which he has illegally obtained in accordance with the legal procedures necessary for this, or of taking both.
