Telangana government to provide social security pension to 10 lakh additional beneficiaries from August 15
The Telangana government would provide a social security pension of Rs 2,016 to 10 lakh new recipients from August 15, the state’s Industry Minister KT Rama Rao said on Thursday.
Rama Rao, who held a virtual interaction with beneficiaries of government social welfare schemes for women on the eve of ‘Raksha Bandhan’, said 14 lakh single and widowed women and four lakh beedi women are among the beneficiaries of the social security pensions, a statement official said.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recently said that the number of beneficiaries would rise to 46 lakh with the addition of 10 lakh beneficiaries.
The social security pension is paid to various sections of society, including the elderly, single women and widows.
The state government is implementing several programs for the welfare of women as it believes that society can only progress when women progress, Rama Rao noted.
The TRS-led government provides Rs 1,00,116 under “Kalyana Lakshmi”, “Shadi Mubarak” schemes to poor girls at the time of their marriage.
It also grants financial aid of Rs 13,000 to the mother who gives birth to a baby girl and Rs 12,000 to the birth of a boy so that she does not need to go to work after giving birth, he added.
The incumbent president of TRS pointed to other social welfare programs such as ‘Amma Vodi’, ‘Arogya Lakshmi’, interest-free loans for women in self-help groups and ‘We Hub’ for women entrepreneurs.
He urged beneficiaries of women’s welfare programs to link Rakshi to CM KCR’s photos on Rakshabandhan day.
